Optical CMM
Optical technology is currently the driving force for innovation in the metrology world. Metris provides highly accurate
portable CMMs based on linear CCD cameras. An innovative benefit is the ability to perform accurate tracking
measurements in addition to the traditional static inspection capabilities of fixed bed CMMs. Today, these Optical
CMM products are industry proven solutions that have been accepted in the automotive and aerospace industries.

Laser Radar Systems
Metris Laser Radar Systems can be used in a broad range
of applications. Comparison to CAD, for example, is a very
strong, much-requested feature. Metris Laser Radar can
rapidly sample as-built surfaces directly to an IGES or CATIA
model and sample over extremely large areas in a contiguous
coordinate system. This ability to accurately relocate the laser
scanner in a single contiguous coordinate system eliminates
the need to reassemble data clouds after the fact.

Adaptive Control
Metris has taken part in a major Airbus research project that results in greater level of automated drilling and riveting within the aerospace giant. Since industrial robots do not meet Airbus process specifications, Airbus, Metris, KUKA and Delmia partnered to develop a new aerospace grade robotic platform. This patent-applied-for solution establishes a dynamic on-line link between a KUKA robot and a Metris K-series Optical CMM based metrology solution. This will result in a robotic platform that features adaptive real time motion control. Airbus expects that the flexible and low cost robotic solution - operating on aerospace accuracy tolerance - will reduce cost, cut production time and improve quality once being deployed.
